Thai Islands and the tourists

Hello my friends!

I have now been traveling for over 2 months, and across the world for one of them. Its hard to believe but I am actually getting pretty tan!! We are now in Thailand hopping from island to island and it is both not what we expected, and exactly as we expected... touristy beyond belief and very beautiful. Illness has followed me everywhere. These people do NOT understand the concept of sanitary eating, no forks, no napkins, and man does this food give you the runs! However, you'd be surprised at how the body adapts... I find myself subconsciously knowing exactly where a water-closet is at all times :)

Among the countless tourists, we managed to find a couple worth talking to. Turns out they are from Colorado too and more bizarrely, we kept running into them all over the island. I guess its like they say, when in Rome, do as the Coloradan's do. If I've learned anything from these two, its that the people from Colorado ROCK!!! And WE ROCK TOO!

Life has gone on more or less the same, here's a poem to explain:
we eat,
we drink,
we swim,
we sink,
we read,
we fart,
we sleep,
we're smart ;-)

as you can tell its really touristy/crowded. Took me 15 minutes standing in line to get atop that rock to throw my skipping stone...

Fitting right in

Miles and Chad bet me I couldn't stop looking like a gringo but I proved them wrong with a major shopping spree at all the local "malls" where the natives buy their "clothes". Bet you can't even find me in this pick. Hint: I just went to the mall! :)

We're movin on!!!

In reply to my last post, you'll never guess what ACTUALLY caused us to leave Sumatra. And thanks to everybody who voted in the poll, made the boring life down here a little bit more fun :)

so, let me get to it. While we basically ended up devouring all of the listed resources (money, water and literature), the true reason that we had to scram from Sumatra is because I got a tick on my BOOTY! AAHH, what the hell do you do when you have a tick in a third world country that has never heard of tweezers??? Well, you sprint to the nearest airport and get the hell out. Thats exactly what we did, we bought tickets to Kuala Lumpur which is 'famous for shopping' to maximize our chances of finding first world quality tweezers. You have no idea the fear that was going through my mind durning the 24 hrs it took to get there... after all it never crossed my mind to get the lime poisoning immunization shot for our travels. Anyways, all is well now I think. Miles spent a little extra time than I thought he needed but all is well now.

Kuala Lumpur is actually pretty cool. no joke about the 'shopping', there is serious street to street 10 floor mall competition, complete with indoor roller coasters! Although, for how great the malls are, they still serve your food on a big fat leaf, gross. I kinda left the third world in hopes of plates and napkins... maybe Thailand will be a little classier...

Ware Da Phun @?!!?

Man, I'm envious of everyone back home, it really looks like they're having a better time than we are over here in south east Asia where they haven't even heard of Halloween!!

Sumatra continued: which resource will cause us to leave???

The easy pleasy life continues... another day, another gallon swallowed, another lap around the school of eels and another 100 page dent into Lord of the Rings. Thats what life here is all about ~ accomplishing as little as possible.

Miles and I have decided that we will return to the real world once one of our major resources have been depleted: Water (the less you eat the less you can #3), Big Money, and Literature.
Which do you think it will be...

What will it be?

On another note, my homie Woodfin just sent me a note that Sunflower Market once again has their amazing ruby red Texan grapefruit sale which should continue all the way into spring. like last year. Those things are soooo good, I'm really bummed I'll be missing out :(
